Babies and Language

Babies are primed to communicate right from birth. From early babbling to the first sentences, it is quite amazing how quickly spoken language develops in young children.

At Oaks Park, we nurture this desire to develop language by providing a rich and varied language experience which includes stories, poems, rhymes, singing and finger plays. Similarly, we use grammatically correct and descriptive language, even with young babies.  We talk to our babies and explain what we are doing, we name things that they can see around them, so that even though they cannot yet talk, they are learning how sentences are structured and absorbing a rich vocabulary.

"It's obvious how much she enjoys her time there, by how much she wants to climb the stairs to the nursery as soon as we arrive."
